If you ask someone why they have drunk too much, they may offer all sorts of reasons, but the truth might actually be, that they don’t know. They just don’t know, or want to admit that, because it would suggest a more serious problem, a possibility of one’s drinking having gotten out of control.

I don’t think I’m blaming society particularly (and I’m not surprised you responded either). The post is far from being a complete comprehensive post. And for what it’s worth I doubt you ever take your advocatus diaboli hat off.

What is “it is not fair at all”? my comment? Of course you are going to learn on the job with having a child but what being older means is that you are able to draw on more tested experience. For example, a twelve year old may for example may not identify potential hazards such as letting them roam free near electricity sockets. I’m not saying that all adult parents are perfect but they do have more experience whether or not you like to abide it. Children by their very nature like fun and enjoy doing many different things usually care free. They like to push boundaries – it’s a way of exploring. But imagine wanting to explore boundaries when your parents are still exploring them.

You might wish to elaborate how sexual promiscuity has potential for a good family life to be brought from a child being born.

They might have money now but the tabloids will move on. They will be yesterday’s news soon enough. And being cynical, they won’t be together in a few years. The stats aren’t in their favour.

Blaming society again? LOL. I was starting to wonder when you would post on this! I feel the need to put my advocatus diaboli hat on again…

It was once quite common in our own society to bear children and this age and younger, and it still is common in some societies. Perhaps if we let our children grow up a bit according to their own speeds, rather than putting them in a cucoon, then they would be more responsible for their own actions. So essentially, it’s our fault lol. While I don’t advocate sexual promiscuity at this or any age in fact, there is potential for a good family life to be brought from a child being born.

“I think it’s fair to say most under 16s lack life experience and emotional capacity to raise a child. Even at 16 I think there is still so much to learn.” It is not fair at all. What would be more accurate is that any new parent does not have the life experience and emotional capacity to rear a child. It’s one of those things one learns on the job; you cannot prepare for it, and no amount of living can really help. Taking the child away would only cause unnecessary distress.

And anyway, they’ll have plenty of money now from all those airbrushed pictures they sold to the papers.
